Permalink Reply by Susie Kline on January 22, 2012 at 2:30pm I just want general parenting tips. Things you've learned along the way that would help other parents. So far I've gotten: pick your battles, and every kid needs to be disciplined differently

Giving them a few "Good for you's," or "Wow! You guys are playing so awesome together!" can mean the world. =)
Permalink Reply by Elinor Stutz on January 23, 2012 at 7:25pm Each child is unique - encourage their unique qualities. For instance if a boy is not interested in sports, don't make him feel bad about not fitting in. Should he instead be interested in art, gymnastics, computers or anything else - find an interesting class where he may become further involved. The put-downs at school are too great for parents to contribute to this. Instead by focusing on what your child is good at, you help to restore and build self-confidence - and that goes a long, long way!
