Should a child be aloud to be involved in extracurricular activites if they are failing in school? A custodial parent recently signed her child up for activity when she is failing all grades.

Every child needs to be involved in activities the earlier the better..however..grades are important. Maybe it is a good idea to put this back to the child for decision. Who is making the decision of the activity ?Is this something the parent wants or the child? Explain to the child in order to become involved in outside activity the grades need to be better perhaps you can compromise..as a trial period, maybe building self -esteem through this would encourage grades to improve. Talk to the school, they may have a tutor program, via another student. If someone wants something bad enough they will do whatever to get it..this would be a good life lesson..just a thought..
