Years ago when my children were little one if the guys at the multimedia company where I worked created an entirely fictitious Newsweek article entitled "Barney, purple friend or evil facist" which they printed an merged with a real copy of the.magazine. The article referred to the children all marching to Barney songs and marching around like various news reels showed in the second world war. Needless to say I was outraged and even threatened to write to the Newsweek editors that my children were not being indoctrinated by these videos at which point they said to check out the letters to the editor page where they had conveniently placed the April Fool's Day notice.

When I was an attorney I gave my boss a formal resignation letter after only having started at the job two months before. I indicated in a serious tone that I was too stressed out to handle the job responsibilities imposed on me. A jokester and teaser himself, my boss took the letter totally seriously. I guess he didn't know me well enough to know I was just kidding. Fortunately he didn't hold that letter against me for my performance review! Jan
