I just want general parenting tips. Things you've learned along the way that would help other parents. So far I've gotten: pick your battles, and every kid needs to be disciplined differently

My resolution this year is to be more creative. Not just think about or read about creative, but to actually do something creative. Another blogger inspired me to put a time limit on being creative--I want to be creative 30 minutes a day!

I've found that I have many superficial on-line friends. And I have a few very close friendships that I cultivate on-line and in person.   When I grew close to my neighbor who passed away, we were mothers whose children were friends and we…

When we lived in a condo and had a dog, we got to be great friends with the other dog owners. We'd congregate in the evening. We cooked dinner together. Then when we moved, I got to be friends with the lady behind us. In our current…

Parents: It All Boils Down To Perception

I wish someone here in the United States would do a survey of teachers to find out if something similar is happening to teachers in the United States. An article cites Facebook bullying is on the rise, and that teachers have been physically attacked by parents. Schools are wasting resources checking out social networking sites, looking for the threats.

Is…

The Royal Wedding...Advice for the Newlyweds

This post orginally appeared on my blog, Motherhoot.

Prince William and Princess Kate are getting married and embarking on their life together. Unlike most of us, they will do their being married gig in front of the entire world.

While I can’t help them deal with the intrusive public, I can give them some advice to make their marriage work a little better. Well, I think I…

Customer Service...And The Customer

I often complain about customer service or the lack thereof. I'm not alone, because everyone of us has a customer service horror story to share. I wrote about holiday customer service and I've put corporate America that I am test-driving customer…

Susie..one of the best tips I can give to parents is put your children to bed " age appropriate" my grandson and grandaughter are in bed by 8pm everynight. this has been since they were in VPK..they are now 9/7 yrs old..and both are straight A students, in cross country and martial arts. They take turns reading together with Mom every night : 7;30-8pm they are asleep by 8:05. They have never suffered a " meltdown" and their mother has been divorced for 5 years..both are very well adjusted..it is consistancy that is very beneficial to a child's development and builds confidence..Set aside quiet time where discussions of what's going on in their life, family time is most valuable. Both my husband and I are active in their lives also. There are many things I feel we can do for our children to help them better their lives and in turn make our better also.
