Susie..one of the best tips I can give to parents is put your children to bed " age appropriate" my grandson and grandaughter are in bed by 8pm everynight. this has been since they were in VPK..they are now 9/7 yrs old..and both are straight A students, in cross country and martial arts. They take turns reading together with Mom every night : 7;30-8pm they are asleep by 8:05. They have never suffered a " meltdown" and their mother has been divorced for 5 years..both are very well adjusted..it is consistancy that is very beneficial to a child's development and builds confidence..Set aside quiet time where discussions of what's going on in their life, family time is most valuable. Both my husband and I are active in their lives also. There are many things I feel we can do for our children to help them better their lives and in turn make our better also.
