empowering women to discover their voice

While I often think change is hard, it is also good. How is it that good things can be so hard. The past 2 years have been ones of trial & error both on a personal and a business level. At times I thought WTF am I doing. Most of the time I had absolutely no answer. I usually, no make that always, want to have the answers. I hate the gray, the taking it day to day. I like black and white, future plans, being able to have some stability and certainty. What I have learned is you can't always have that certainty. Life isn't absolute. People aren't predictable. That can suck but it can also help you grow. It certainly helped me grow. Even when I would have preferred not to.

Embrace change. It can be fun!

Hi Laina,

I too like guarantees. But unfortunately we can't have them. I like the thrill of not knowing but I don't know this until after the fact. Kind of like the first time on a roller coaster. You're so scared to get on that thing but you do it anyway, terrified of what might happen. After the ride is over, you think, man! I want to do that again! So you get on again and it's fun but it's not the same because you now know what's coming. And you do it over and over and over again looking for that first time rush but it never comes again, and then I wish I would have indulged in not knowing and just enjoyed the moment for what it was. It becomes old hat and then I search for something new again to start the process all over.

I have found that with new opportunities and challenges we can only be new once. I try to remember the boredom that I feel after knowing something so well and I take heed in the moment and enjoy the sheer terror of something new.

I hope I made some sense there. I tend to go off on tangents.

Change is good,
Gina

Personally, I love change. I change jobs every 3 years - I call it the 3-year itch. I get bored and ansy if I have too much routine for too long. I always need to break it up with a little crazy...which is why I like your site. My personal life has also been a bit crazy too since I got divorced 3 years ago, but I finally found someone who's as crazy as me, and I'm crazy about him...so life is good. My motto is that the best things in life don't come easy (I wrote that in my book, Next Course, Please!) so embrace the hard stuff - it feels so much more satisfying when you accomplish it in the end!
